Spring 2017 Update

What a start to the year it’s been! After The Hermes Experiment’s King Place debut in February, we’ve been looking ahead to our whistlestop visit to Tallinn on 31 March to perform as part of Tallinn Music Week, in association with Nonclassical. Heloise and I are delighted to be joined by harpist Fontaine Liang and bassist Ben Daniel-Greep to present some of our favourite Hermes commissions, including Ewan Campbell’s tube map graphic score, and Stevie Wishart’s Eurostar-inspired soundscape.

In the meantime, I had a great couple of weeks performing for the first time with the Riot Ensemble in a concert of intense but thrilling music by Liza Lim, Edmund Finnis, Rebecca Saunders and Anna Thorvaldsdottír. Straight afterwards I dived into two hallmarks of contemporary vocal repertoire with Shadwell Opera, playing Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Twice Through the Heart and a chamber arrangement of Schoenberg’s epic Erwartung.

This week sees the close of Amadeus at the National Theatre – a truly amazing thing to have been a part of. Last-minute tickets may still be available! Otherwise, catch one of NT Live’s many encore screenings in cinemas worldwide.
