The Hermes Experiment Summer Events

After having just spent a couple of wonderful weeks in Aldeburgh, playing in their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Snape Maltings, there are plenty of other things keeping me busy over the summer!

The Hermes Experiment are playing at Nonclassical Club Night curated by Freya Waley-Cohen on Wed 12 July. The evening will feature the gradual reduction of our quartet to just one player, and we’re delighted to be sharing the stage with viol player Liam Byrne. In addition to Freya’s beautiful song cycle, We Phoenician Sailors, written for The Hermes Experiment, I’ll be playing a part of Donatoni’s Clair – an utterly relentless piece, one of those four-music-stand shuffle-along-the-stage jobs. Come and watch me do the contemporary music shuffle!

We’re then heading to Fishguard International Music Festival at the end of July, with a concert on Saturday 29 July, with us also featuring in the Saints and Stones event on Friday 28. Come and say hi whilst wandering through beautiful Welsh countryside!

Our production of  a musical reimagining of The Winter’s Tale is making a comeback at the Tête à Tête festival on Friday 11 August, after a successful premiere at the Cockpit Theatre last December – hope to see you there! Music and drama are fused together to create an hour-long performance featuring five actors alongside Hermes, exploring the key themes of the play, including acting from every member of the ensemble!
